Lori Baker - Click here to read her profile from the Arizona Business Gazette!
Lori made her way to Arizona from Massachusettes in 1978 to attend
the University of Arizona in Tucson. While making many trips out west
to visit their daughter, Vic and Evelyn Baker decided to sell their
chain of movie theaters back east and re-locate to Arizona where
the climate was warmer and they could be close to Lori. During the
time Lori was attending the university, Vic and Evelyn purchased
a BXI franchise. They built the exhange up and decided to go independent
in 1980 and called their independent exchange Future Bank. Apparently,
the banking commissioner did not like that name and forced them to
change it. Thus, The Barter Group was born.
Lori joined the family business in 1993 after running a successful
travel agency for 8 years. Although the travel business was a great
experience, Lori was ready to take on a new challenge. Lori loves
working with small business owners to help them increase their sales
and profits though barter. Since joining the team, Lori has taken the
company into the 21st century by adding a 24 hour touch tone telephone
system, an on-line member directory and an e-newsletter. This technology
has made transacting business deals seamless and has encouraged more
companies to particiapte in organized trade.
When she is not working with her members, Lori enjoys weight training,
cooking and taking long walks with her Pit Bull Sam. You can reach
Lori at Lori@bartergroup.com. |
